Andrew Lee is a pioneer in the industry of marine surveying. He is the only active marine surveyor from the pioneer group of Singapore seafarers of 1970s.

 

Starting as an engine cadet, he rose through the ranks and became a Chief Engineer onboard cargo ships and container vessels with Neptune Orient Lines and Timur Carriers during an 8 year stint at sea. He holds a Certificate of Competency Class 1 (Engineer).

 

Over the last 30 years, Andrew Lee has been at the forefront of the development of the local marine survey and marine loss adjusting industry and has been appointed to act for numerous landmark cases in the region. As one of the few prominent marine surveyors, Andrew Lee was the first Asian to be appointed as a director in Matthews Daniel International and Toplis Harding International. After a stellar career, he co-founded the Insight Group and secured Lloyd’s Agency in Singapore, establishing offices in Indonesia, Malaysia, Korea and China in the process.

 

In 2006, Andrew Lee started ALC Consulting Services to focus on serving his list of clients in the regional maritime community. ALC Consulting Services is built on his personal principals of providing independent, consistent and reputable quality of work in marine surveys, claims and incidents.

 

As a Senior Consultant, Andrew Lee continues to be regularly engaged to provide maritime expertise in advisory positions to board of directors and management committees in the maritime community. He is also appointed to numerous panels of approved ship appraisers in the legal and financial community.

CAPTAIN BAHARUDIN ISHAK - MANAGING DIRECTOR

37 Years of Maritime Experience

Captain Baharudin Ishak started his seagoing career which spanned over 16 years with Neptune Orient Lines in 1983. He begun as a deck cadet and worked his way up across many different NOL vessels. Upon obtaining his Certificate of Competency Class 1 (Master Mariner), NOL assigned Captain Baharudin as senior training officer onboard oil tankers to educate and train deck cadets, officers and crew in all aspects of oil tanker procedures and operations.

 

In 1996, he was sent to Hiroshima, Japan to supervise the construction and newbuilt programme of NOL fleet of oil tankers. Captain Baharudin was involved from the start to end of this programme which also saw him took command as Captain of a new oil tanker.

 

Deciding to move ashore, Captain Baharudin joined Andrew Lee at Insight Marine Services as a marine surveyor. During this time, he was to be involved in a wide array of high profile assignments in the marine insurance industry. His seagoing experience and technical knowledge served him well as a surveyor and propelled him to be 1 of the prominent marine surveyors in Singapore.

 

In 2006, Captain Baharudin took over as Head of Insight Marine Services when Andrew Lee left.

 

In 2009, Captain Baharudin joined as Managing Director and Principal Surveyor of ALC Consulting Services.  As the principal surveyor, he is instrumental in establishing the P&I department and oversees the training and career development of the group’s surveyors in the region.

SUNU LAZAR - TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

Senior Marine Surveyor and Principal Ship Appraiser

 

24 Years of Maritime Experience

It was onboard a VLCC oil tanker, plying the route between USA and Europe that Sunu begun his seagoing career in 1989. He joined as an Assistant Engineer with Thome Shipmanagement before moving up the ranks with Neptune Orient Lines from 5th Engineer to 2nd Engineer. Clocking his mileage in sea-going experience on board various vessels ranging from the likes of product tankers to container ships, Sunu is a seasoned sea farer and holds a Certificate of Competency Class 1 (Engineer).

 

Since coming ashore, Sunu has been involved in the maritime community in his role as a marine surveyor. His technical knowledge and seagoing experience serve him well over the last 12 years in his work handling complex technical survey and claims in H&M and P&I matters.

 

To further his experience in marine insurance and claims, Sunu obtained his Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII, UK) with the Chartered Insurance Institute in London in 2011. During the course of his studies, he was awarded the Kenneth Griffith Prize by Chartered Insurance Institute for his achievement as the top student in 2009. He is currently qualified as a Chartered Insurance Practitioner.

JASON LEE - Business Director

Ship Appraiser

 

7 Years of Maritime Experience

Jason has a finance and marine background, having previously worked with Goldman Sachs in Singapore and Sea Glory Shipping. He has significant experience and success in corporate finance and management of start-ups and small medium enterprises.

 

As the business director, Jason oversees the group functions of ALC Consulting Services in Singapore and Indonesia.

 

In 2012, he started PT ALCC Marine Consultants Indonesia and 2 offices in Jakarta and Batam to better cater to the growing list of clients based in the Indonesian shipping community.

 

Jason holds a Bachelor degree in Business Management from Singapore Management University and post-graduate Diploma in Shipping Operations and Management from Singapore Polytechnic.

 

AZMI MOHAMAD

Senior Marine Cargo Surveyor

 

16 Years of Maritime Experience

Azmi Mohamad sailed as a Deck Cadet onboard a product tanker during his course of study. Later, he worked as a Patrol Officer at Singapore Police Coastguard.

 

In 1998, Azmi Mohamad started his career as a marine surveyor by joining Andrew Lee at Insight Marine. He underwent training to become an approved Lloyd’s Agent marine surveyor at Insight Marine. 

 

Over the last decade, Azmi Mohamad has significant experience in conducting marine cargo surveys and resolving claims. He is regularly appointed to handle major marine cargo claims for underwriters and P&I clubs.

 

Azmi Mohamad holds a Diploma in Maritime Transportation from Singapore Polytechnic and a Certificate in General Insurance.

 

MUHAMAD LUTHFI

Senior Marine Cargo Surveyor

 

14 Years of Maritime Experience

As a Deck Cadet, Muhamad Luthfi sailed onboard various vessels with Maersk Line before joining SGS.

 

In 2004, he joined Captain Baharudin at Insight Marine and underwent training to become an approved Lloyd’s Agent marine surveyor at Insight Marine. 

 

Besides conducting marine cargo surveys and resolving claims, Muhamad Luthfi is actively involved in marine technical surveys.

 

With his work experience, he is regularly appointed to handle major marine cargo claims for underwriters and P&I clubs.

 

Muhamad Luthfi holds a Diploma in Nautical Studies from Singapore Polytechnic.

 

VON CHEE KEE

Marine Surveyor and Ship Appraiser

 

8 Years of Maritime Experience

Upon graduation in 2007, Von Chee Kee was accepted into the 1st batch of marine surveyor trainees under Captain Baharudin in Insight Marine.

 

He started on general survey and had progressed over the last 9 years to be a competent and experienced marine surveyor. 

 

Since then, he has been involved in numerous high profile H&M and P&I assignments and travelled extensively for overseas surveys.

 

Von Chee Kee holds a Diploma in Marine Engineering from Singapore Polytechnic and a Certificate in General Insurance.

 

LIM MUHAMMAD NUR QASTALANI

Marine Surveyor and Ship Appraiser

 

8 Years of Maritime Experience

As an Engine Cadet, Lim Muhammad sailed with Neptune Ship management Services Pte Ltd on board a container vessel till he obtained his Certificate of Competency Class 5 in Engine.

 

Subsequently, he worked as a Service Engineer with ABB Turbocharging to install and maintain the turbochargers and gas engines onboard vessels and in power stations in the Asia.

 

He was promoted to the role of Junior Technical Advisor and was also tasked to conduct training seminars for new service engineers in the region.

 

Lim Muhammad holds a Diploma in Marine Engineering from Singapore Polytechnic.

 

SHARUDDIN BIN HASSAN

Marine Cargo Surveyor

 

11 Years of Maritime Experience

In 2004, Sharuddin joined Captain Baharudin at Insight Marine to become a marine cargo surveyor.  To further his knowledge of insurance claims, he studied and obtained his Certificate in General Insurance.

 

Besides conducting marine cargo surveys and resolving claims, Sharuddin is actively involved in marine technical surveys.

 

Sharuddin holds a Diploma in Maritime Transportation from Singapore Polytechnic and a Certificate in General Insurance.

 

MOHD FARHAN MOHD GAZALI

Marine Surveyor

 

8 Years of Maritime Experience

As an Engine Cadet, Muhammad Farhan sailed with Brostrom Tankers Singapore on board product tanker till he obtained his Certificate of Competency Class 5 in Engine.

 

Upon graduation, he continues to sail with Maersk Tankers Singapore onboard various product and chemical tankers, rising to the rank of 4th Engineer.

 

Muhammad Farhan holds a Diploma in Marine Engineering from Singapore Polytechnic and is currently pursuing his Certificate of Competency Class 2 in Engine.

 

GAN JING HAN

Marine Surveyor and Ship Appraiser

 

5 Years of Maritime Experience

As an 18 years old Deck Cadet, Gan Jing Han sailed with Pacific International Lines onboard various container vessels for a period of 2 years and obtained her Certificate of Competency Class 3 in Deck.

 

She is the 1st and only female marine surveyor in Singapore.

 

To further her technical skills, Gan Jing Han is currently pursuing a Diploma in Marine Surveying from Lloyds Maritime Academy.

 

Gan Jing Han holds a Diploma in Nautical Studies from Singapore Polytechnic.
